Obscured from memory, 2023
Obscured from memory is a project that tackles the idea of women in the context of family history being forgotten, blurred, and erased. While their contributions and presence is ever present, rarely are they actually remembered nor acknowledged. Only fragments are remembered but never the full picture, thus leaving them to be partially or wholly obscured by memories. I used family photos of my nuclear family as well as a photo of my great grandparents to execute this project. In all pictures, parts of the women in my family are obscured by pixels, whether that be their face, body, or a mixture of both.
